Patience is a VIRTUE !

“Just once, study really hard and you can do whatever you want after that” parents usually say when their ward starts 10th. After that he/she decides to take on the challenge of studying for another 2 years.”Life deciding 12th boards” as they call it. No, no, that's not all. Next you're “allowed” to choose betwixt slogging for 3, 4, 5 years in the name base courses of Arts, Engineering and Medicine/Architecture respectively. *Faints*. Writing entrance exams for colleges whose names range from Daddy to Amman Engineering. 26 months it's been since his roller-coaster ride began. At first sight it looked similar to a RESORT. The place nestles comfortably between the elephant hills and the weather is concrete evidence. No wonder he finds it difficult to get up even at 8:30.
Even if he does get up, 20 minutes appears too less to get ready. He somehow manages to get-up, brush, force his way through the swarm of people waiting behind each cube in the bathroom for a quick shower, rush back to his room, and wear his colored linen (Okay! We have uniforms), comb his hair, wear his flip-flops and rush down the stairs to the mess to stuff the delicious (sarcasm at its best) food into his already growling stomach and prepares himself to give Usain Bolt his biggest challenge before he realizes he has his lab and he will not allowed inside without shoes and also pick up the most valuable asset (Mobile/i-Pod/mp3). So much to do and he still hopes to reach before the prayer bell. And when he fails that test, he sees an innocent looking man waiting near the dept. He stops him and asks, “Yes pa, why are you late? And the student replies, Sir, Late Sir. Next question, where's your ID card? Where is the tag? OK, don't repeat it. Go to my room and collect the late pass. Oh! Apparently, he was the HOD! The student only wishes he had a monthly or a yearly subscription for the late pass concept. He finally gets into the class and silently slips away to the last bench when a voice that could rip your ear drums calls him to the first bench. He tucks his phone under the desk and opens his multi-subject notebook. The prof. says, all of you submit your notes after this hour. He confronts his prof. and says, Sir I forgot my ‘x’ subject note. The prof. says; Write it in your rough note and give. The student replies, “that's exactly what I did not bring”. Your attendance for the hour stands canceled. *Gasps*. Vada poche.
He somehow sits till 12:25 and the sound of the bell energizes the half awake, tired, listening soul so much, that he jolts away to the mess hall and sees huge containers filled with solids and fluids all looking the same. We've been asking for placards for those since god only knows when. A mini parliament is formed with topics ranging from Cricket to football to movies are discussed until a geek pops in to remind us about an assignment or a record submission or a test the next hour. *Sigh*. Less than half a day and already so much thrill. Don't ever come to me and say love is complicated; else I'll throw my engineering books on your face. He gulps down his buffet lunch and rushes to complete his forever pending work. The second half wears on and finally after all the sleeping, dreaming, puffing and panting he gets ready to leave. Like all familiar villains a faculty informs him about a test he missed last week and he has to stay back till 5. Tea and snacks are automatically eliminated. We're probably the only ones to miss a first day first show of a movie and rather go for the same on a SUNDAY (which is when we are released from this mini, err.. mega prison). No wonder prison-break is the most watched series by all of us.
A bit of the tension finally eases out and the victim can now switch on his laptop for some sort of entertainment till his stomach informs him about dinner (which unfortunately happens to be a mix of breakfast and lunch). Apparently this food is supposed is so much better compared to the other colleges. And we don't realize it! Fifa, Dota, CS, NFS, AOE …. The guys finally stop moaning and enjoy themselves through the night until an assignment submission comes to mind. The clock would've already struck 3. Completely drained out as the energy levels have already hit rock bottom, he searches for his pillow and more importantly his blanket and by the time the tired soul could realize anything, it would be 8:30 in the morning again..
#To all those who can relate to this :)

When The Clock Struck 7

“7:45 am” was the first thing I heard on that hot, sunny morning with the sleepy eyes unable to open even a millimeter and the bed-sheet still warm and comfy. I finally terminated my sleep and without second thoughts, jumped straight into the bathroom for a quick shower. And so it finally happened that I would eventually be late for the very first day of school. I zoomed across the roads in my cycle and despite my valiant efforts, I was still late. A completely filled classroom welcomed me with the teacher in a bob-cut hairstyle and eccentric lipstick kept staring at the boy with uncombed hair, un-tucked shirt, flip-flops and just a book in his hand. Not surprisingly I was called out to take a place in the first bench and I hesitatingly sat down. A quick word with my friends and my eyes kept searching and searching for the elusive one that I’ve been searching for, for quite a long time. It finally happened and within the next fraction of a second I was instructed to draw the bloody electromagnetic field on the board. Not the start I expected to my day. I kept peeping behind for help but sadly, everyone knew only what I knew, NOTHING! She kept smiling at me. Were my eyes seeing something unreal? You never know.

I was tempted to talk to her in the break and when I finally strung all my guts together to walk towards her; Machan eppidi da irukka? from my friend put an end to my hopes. The rest of the day followed suit and it was 3:30 when my time really came. A flat tire in my cycle and I had to trudge my way back home. I was helplessly lumbering along when a Hey, mind if I help popped in. It was HER. So busy admiring her eyes I was, it took an eternity for me to let the feeling sink in. I thought you’d come and talk to me in the break itself but I suppose, your friends kept you busy. How did you know that? I asked, staring disbelievingly at her. Something made me feel so, she responded. Maybe it was written all over my face. Sweeter lines began to flow from her larynx while ARR and Ilayaraja were kept busy playing their best tunes in my heart and ears. We lived close by, which meant her pick-up and dropping duties were unofficially handed over to me. Ashvitha. The name kept echoing in my mind. Her smile is still etched in my memory. The first sign of love is a smile, husband to wife, mother to her son or a boss to his secretary. FB chats, secret phone calls lasting over an hour, weekly hangouts etc.

Guys in school started congratulating me for no reason whatsoever. Quarterly was fast approaching. Chemical bonding, laws of motion, it was all going over my head. Physics - 28, Chemistry - 28.5, Computer Science , well never mind :P. Harder times were to follow and she was keen on helping me get through. The thought that a boy and a girl can never be good friends crossed my mind more than once. Sometimes the heart sees things that are invisible to the eye. Being loved by someone gives you strength while deeply loving someone gives you courage. I kinda like you, A LOT. It took a lot of courage to tell her but her response which said, It took you so long to confess made me feel like an idiot. 6 months into this special relationship led to sneaking out of the house at odd hours, poetry, art, guitar, gym. The list goes on. How long will you remain the same way with me? she asked and I said, I’ll give up on you and our love when the sky touches the ground or when the moon stops hiding behind the sun or when I finish counting the number of stars in the sky or when apples grow on mango trees on the 31st of February. The trademark smile beamed across her face but those glittering eyes said something was not right. I hugged her and told her not to worry about anything and safely go to sleep before 10. It was the first time in 180 days that I had not walked back home with her. 6:45pm, August 13, 2007. Banging on the doors , cell phone ringing and people screaming at the top of their voice. Oh my God, I was running late to school as usual, a slight glance at the newsprint and again, I had to huff and puff my way through to class and to my surprise, found her missing. Worried look and much faster heartbeat carried me through the day. My brain virtually stopped thinking. A sudden thud on my back and all of a sudden I was in a van with a built man. *Collapses*. Where were you last night? and another huge slam followed with me wincing in pain.

Me: I WAS HOME; ASK MY PARENTS IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE ME.
Man: We traced the dialed calls to your number and we know you have some relation to that. Did you hear about the accident between the MTC bus and the Scorpio?
Me:*REWIND* Thinks about the glance at the newsprint where a woman's face who was screaming had some relation to a person he had already known. No, But I remember seeing a picture in the morning paper.
Man: We checked the mobile of the deceased and tried contacting you but we just could not reach you. Iam sorry to say .. but ..
Me: *Spinning around and in a complete daze* Are you serious ? Don’t tell me it’s her. You’re joking, aren’t you? I cannot believe you officer. This just cannot be true. No. Nooooooooo. God, are you kidding with me? Why does everything like this happen, ONLY TO ME? I hope its not true. Officer please, tell me you are lying. I cannot believe this. Is that why she asked me such a question before she left me alone? Is that why something kept bothering her always? Did she know what was going to happen to her? Is that why she told me she knew I would talk to her in the break on the first day of school? Did I fail to see the tear drops in those eyes? Was she psychic? Could she predict the future? Why did she have to LOVE ME? A—Ash—Assshhvv—Assshhhvvviiiiiiiiii ……

Krish, Relax . Relax. *Passes current to the electric chair in which he’s seated.* He groans in pain, AGAIN. Slowly come out of your senses. Now relax, calm down, don’t think about anything else, control your mind. The Psychiatrist slowly removes the hypnotizer from the white screen in the dark room and walks towards Krish, seated on the electric chair. Are you alright, Son? He asks him. Krish gives a lunatic smile and whispers something to the psychiatrist; “7:45 am” was the first thing I ..

Palace or Just another ELBOW ROOM?

Yes! We’re almost there, Petrol is almost the same price as a Kingfisher Beer. So what is the next hot topic in Singara Chennai? A tiny dome shaped structure in the corner of Wallajah road, a mini concrete jungle in the busy streets of Anna Nagar, a sizeable bungalow in the narrow streets of Adyar? A house. A personal request to the house owners and the renters – We are mostly middle class people, sadly, everyone of us HAVE to agree to your 300 page rulebook before boiling the milk on the auspicious day during the Raahukaalam or Yamagandam while the visitors eating only food and giving only small small gifts come.
Here is a list of questions which are commonly asked and add further vent to the tenants anger.

First-u

1         Neenga Vegetarian dhaane?
Ans) Aama, Naan Vegetarian. Secondly, What difference is it going to make to your style of living at home ? I live in the house and I eat what my taste buds favor.  Maybe sponsoring for the phenyl bottle for the cleaning of the floors can be done by us. Cleaning will be done by us too. Why you bother? We don’t sit in your house for lunch, DO WE?

Next-u

2           Are you basically BACHELOR?
Ans) Why? For one bachelor you no give house, but when 3 bachelors come with 40000 money; you allow. WHY?

3        How many of you will stay in the house?
Ans) Allo essuse me .. When we search for a house, we do it for everyone in the family and not just for ONE PERSON.

Further

4            How many will visit your place?
Ans) My cousins are not from the U.S or U.K to call me up and say, Hey dude of the dood, Iam come  home in the next one hour da, please put the A/C and keep. Nothing is planned in advance. We're not part of the Al-Qaeda nor the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Visitors may even end up staying for a week just for the sake of half a dozen bananas.

5            The parking charges you see basically ..
Ans) You can’t expect me to park my Mercedez on the streets when I have a house. Neither can I keep the car inside your house nor on my head. Parking is part of the RENT.

6             Electricity, Water, Maintenance ...
Ans) Brother, Am I not going to LIVE in that house? So, the repair works and the EB come under my bill, doesn’t it? Why you show such cheap behavior for that extra ONE rupee in that ONE unit of electricity?

7             First ten months advance you can give to me by the …
Ans) That is MY MONEY. Does that mean you cannot kick me out of the house for first 10 months? I guess you should return it to me after a point of time too.

8             Do you grow lions, tigers, dogs, cats, pigs …
Ans) What are those poor little creatures going to do disrupt the peace and sanctity in your house? Maybe they will contribute manure to your plants sometimes, maybe even to your clothes but that won’t be too frequent…

These are just a few questions. There are more baffling questions in store for people who are so desperate for a place to park their items in this city. It’s high time the house owners realized this. So my dear brothers and sisters,  BE CAREFUL!  Whether they’ve realized It or not, only TIME will tell …

7.5 perusa illa 38 ah ????

Sensational hit this is from MSD, what a time the captain decides to find form. The HELICOPTER has finally arrived at the Chinnaswamy. 187/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs and the Mumbai Indians have an uphill task ahead of them but don’t forget; they have the LITTLE MASTER.. Just before the Eggstraaaa Innings T20 could commence, I snatch the primary controller of the idiot box from the ATM of the family and out of the blue we land at a random news channel spewing information that PRICE of PETROL  has mounted to a new high of Rs.77.94 which speaks of an increase by Rs.7.54. *Aathadi*. I was still in a trance till I rubbed my eyes and stared disbelievingly into the 32’’BRAVIA. A glass of water was all my father ordered and by the time I bought it, he was already pouring into an excel sheet on his COMPAQ.

Allow me to handle your senses for the next 3 minutes. All of us will definitely have that “OMG, Not Again” reaction on our faces when we see this on the newsprint. “Route irukku, Road-e illa, Bike irukku, PETROL illa.” But not more than a handful of us will have this thought lingering in our minds for more than a couple of days until who’s  going to make the IPL finals takes over. A drop of Rs.2 is expected to the current rate but my question is, despite all the taxes we pay, IS THIS HIKE STILL NECESSARY ? A popular tweet said “Let us make friends with Iran as petrol is 6/liter over there.” Sadly, this is the current state of our country. They say don’t add fuel to the fire, Oh yeah,  we can’t, as the price keeps mounting. It seems our *honourable* President, Pratibha Patil spends majority of the year in foreign countries and spends close to 12Crore as personal expenses. Apparently 26Crore has been used to buy gifts for the P’s and PM’s of other countries. And whose money is she floundering? OURS! Where is the Income Tax Department going to hide its face now? Not to forget that we spend crores of money on a *well-wisher*;who claimed 100’s of innocent lives in Mumbai; by feeding him with special biryani and chicken. ATTITHI DHEVO BHAVA.

Instead of looking at politicians, why don’t we take some time off and stare at the mirror for sometime and try to think of ways to counter this issue. Rs.7.5 per liter for a biker who uses at-least 50 liters of petrol or a 4 wheeler user who consumes a minimum of 100 liters means around Rs.350 and 700 increase in their monthly budget respectively. My folks were used to earning close to Rs.15000/month which they had to use to get their own house in a locality in the vicinity of the beach, educate their son and daughter, buy jewels for their daughter and now are in a position to marry her off. They did agree to our whims and fancies but never did they let it affect their skilled management. It’s not just my folks , almost all of you have had the COMFORT LIVING. This was about 25 years ago. Now, 700 is your weekly pocket money. Weekly hangouts with friends in the beach. Xperia, N8, Galaxy Ace, i-Phone, i-Touch, Alienware, Inspiron, All in one mixie grinder air-conditioner, WE HAVE IT ALL. Having a Credit card IS NOT A STYLE STATEMENT. A swipe here and a swipe there.
A: Avengers 2 is coming soon da machii, we’ll book ticket ah ?
B: Ok da.
A: Hello, Sathyam Cinemas?
Job done .. Delivery charges , Rs.60 Sir.
Adidas, Nike, Puma, Jockey, Levis, Tommy Hilfiger… All Original. Just  Rs.999*da. Everything branded. You contribute wonderfully to the foreign exchange market. Its not just PETROL, its spending on frills that actually dent your budget. Car-pooling is an option. Adoption of Electrically powered vehicles where you sacrifice speed for the sake of your environment.  Walk in their shoes for a couple of minutes and you’ll know what it takes it to save money and relish every bit of it. Your BMW’s and Audi’s are not bought on SPOT-PAYMENT, all are on EMI’s only. Sooner or later we may have to invite Ramar Pillai over to commercialize MOOLIGAI PETROL. The world is not going to change in a day or just because someone gives an outstanding speech. You, Me aur Hum must work inch by inch in achieving this. This blog, I hope will remain in your memory for more than a couple of days and hopefully not get burnt in the price of petrol itself. Your patience is more than appreciated.

Yours Sincerely
#Frustrated Indian!

WAKE UP INDIA, ITS ALMOST TIME ...

A 2007 Human Resource Development reports that developed countries should cut their carbon emissions by at-least 20-30% by 2030 and 80% by 2050 ; if the Earth has to be saved from the adverse effects of global warming  It says only developed countries , India for one has been on the developing list since time immemorial. I understand your predicament, it says only developed countries , how many more years, I wonder. Let us pause for a while and take things into perspective.
Humanity is on the verge of facing a series of climatic changes that will wreck havoc on the planet. An entire civilization will be swept in an underwater grave. Flora and fauna find it difficult to cope with the temperature changes. How many of us prefer living underwater ? I DONT! Melting of glaciers, even snowfall has reduced its occurrence and intensity . It doesn't matter to nature if you own a Rulls Royce or a Mercedez because whatever be the brand, pollution is all set to rise.
In all probability if we need to leave behind traces of life when the world eventually ends, the Air-conditioners,  LCDs,  BMW, i-Phones .. will take center-stage. Combating this problem is indeed very difficult. Humanity stands amidst a grave danger of perishing. Planting trees is the order of the day but deforestation is what happens. It is estimated that if all the ice on Earth melts, about 200 feet of water will be added to the surface of the oceans. Stats show ice has been shrinking 10% per decade since 1980.
I sincerely hope that the USA does not have plans of setting up underwater industries . You already have the world's oil bank in your custody. Iraq, Libya, UAE are living conquered examples. So when exactly is World Environment Day ? Any guesses ? Google was created for you. Technology has to be thanked for helping man create things he would never have dreamt of. The same technology can be used efficiently to benefit the world.
We may live in India, Australia or anywhere for that matter, but the world is where we belong. Scientists can only predict that life can exist on Mars, Moon or whatever but we may not see the light of the day. Just wait and watch what happens. We've all read about global warming, carbon emissions , greenhouse gases at-least for those 3 marks in Environmental Science. Have we ever bothered to dig deeper? We've always been waiting for an emotional speech from a leader or a soul stirring article and I hope you've found your way here. 13 year old Severn Suzuki delivered a brilliant speech meant for the leaders of tomorrow at the United Nations Summit in 1992.
At ground level, my college organized a clean-up drive in and around Coimbatore for which my best friend retorted "Dude, I DON'T PAY 1.6 lacs for cleaning garbage." This sums up the attitude of the world . The impetus is on Attitude Change. I agree its easy to preach , hard to follow. Two hours of power cut in Chennai and people lose their brains. Coimbatore, Trichy and others have close to 11 hours. And where does all this conserved power go? Electricity Board or to the nearest stadium hosting an IPL tournament? Two matches per day , 6 hours of electricity and we're SUCCESSFULLY into the 5TH YEAR! So much for *CRICKETAINMENT* ? Talk about saving ELECTRICITY!
Wake up India , its high time we pulled up our socks and started moving in the right direction. Birth control ( India has the second largest population* ). We have so much more in hand .Vertical farming , afforestation , having a small garden in your terrace wont do any harm . Every little drop counts. Captain Planet rightly said ; Reuse , Reduce and Recycle. Reducing the use of Chlorofluorocarbons(Google is there for you) and acceptance of methane as a fuel. Not charging your cell-phones after 11 in the night .Using non-conventional forms of energy like solar, wind, hydel power. Embracing Electrically powered vehicles, Car-pooling and using more of public transport, shifting to natural gas from coal will do a world of good to us .We know it all; but sadly, none of us put it to practice. I did sound like some geography teacher but someone always has to open our eyes.
To all those souls for whom this article created a sense of responsibility, pang of guilt or even an emotional stir in your heart, please practice first and then preach. As far the rest are concerned, please AVOID this, 2004 Tsunami sorely missed you , but hey .. 2012 eagerly awaits you :) Good luck. Your patience is appreciated. 8 years is indeed a long time to wait.

Peace out!

Severn Suzuki's Speech. Please spare 7 minutes of your time, thats all it takes to listen to Kolaveri TWICE :)

T-12671, 21:00 hours

A long, exhausting week had come to a weak end and another was on the verge of beginning. Saturdays come every week but the village/forest/college/institution I study in declares it a holiday every alternate week. Friday was a long wait. As the saying goes, after Monday and Tuesday even the days of the week say WTF! The lunch bell clanged at 12 30 pm and I ran at a pace enviable for Usain Bolt, just to have lunch. I reached my hostel faster than that and my already gleaming face widened further and the clothes(mostly, okay, everything UNCLEAN) were dumped into the American Tourister. It was time to go home. Get,Set, Go! A suitcase in one hand, mobile in the other, ear-phones plugged in, the world was at my feet. A soft voice rang  me up to ask if I had left(My Mom).My friend(guy) wanted to show me how big Coimbatore was and we set about exploring. Dinner in a roadside shop decorated in comical colors was avoided and a restaurant was chosen. 8:50 pm read the Casio on my left wrist as I casually ordered another plate of pani-puri. Something was seriously wrong.OMG! My train was to leave in less than 600 seconds. The order was canceled in a jiffy and I was fighting a race against time.
The engine roared to life and the pulsar 220 took off in jet speed. Too clichéd? It was only 40 km/hr because it was just a scooty pep+. My bad luck. 70 seconds remained for 9:00 pm to strike and the signal itself had taken 40 off it. The back entrance of the railway station finally arrived with 15 seconds to go and I had to show off my running skills yet again. To add to my disastrous luck, the train had been dislodged from its equilibrium position by the crazy driver.I finally managed to get onto to the running train. A barrage of bad words followed from my friend. Probably my experience wasn't all that great. Maybe it was. S10 seat no.18 read my ticket and again it happened . I had got onto S1. Brilliant. A 45 minute wait for the next station. I jumped off the coach and ran towards mine. Railways need to be taught how to organize coaches. The anti-climax was finally over. A poorly lit compartment welcomed me. Half the lights off, people wandering aimlessly, some wanting to get some sleep, some wondering what to do, few on the phone. One passenger stood out. His mouth wide open, gazing at the roof of the compartment. WATCH OUT FOR THAT MOSQUITO WAS ALL I COULD SAY!
Train journeys have always fascinated me. I've seen enough movies to conclude love cannot happen in the train. Beautiful girl sitting right in front of you. Angels surrounding you with a weird background score. No further explanations. We always want an incident like this, don't we? It did happen to me. A young girl probably 17 dressed plainly, dark, innocent and glittering eyes wandered here and there and finally it met my searching eyes. All I did was stare, stare and STARE at her. A word was about to break the silence when a loud thud on my seat cracked open my senses with the words,"Thambi,Ticket ticket tickett". Reality dawned upon me. It was a dream alright but why such a sad ending to it? May the TTR rest in peace. All I could see opposite me was an old woman probably in her twilight years asking me,"Ize-greem venuma dhambiii?". I was neither flattered nor deceived. Sometimes, life is like that. One such incident did happen but it was a girl of all people who could match my nonsense talk word for word. Wavelength match was perfect. Its not everyday that these happen but once they do, MEMORIES STAY ON FOREVER.
Only 3 out of the 8 hours had passed. A lot more had to happen. Every time i step into a train I've wanted something different to happen. During my 2 year experience, all I've learnt is this - Never worry about the destination or the time duration , just endure the journey ...

0/1 is now 0/2 !

It came as a surprise to some, shock to many, obvious to a few but for a cricket lover like me, it was a disaster waiting to happen. 2004 Tsunami didn't shake me, 2012 doesn't bother me but Friday the 9th of March will remain forever etched in my memory. Goodbye to one of the greatest ever Indian cricketers, Goodbye to the god of the cut shot, goodbye to my cricketing idol, goodbye to the wall, goodbye to Rahul Sharad Dravid.. A drop of tear trickles down my cheek as i type this.A genius at work, master at the art of concentration."I don't believe that you judge careers or what people have done for 15-20 years based on one or two matches in the end.It is the work of a lifetime that goes into the making of a success story. " These words by the great man at the press conference inspired me to write this.
A tribute to the legend of the game. We don't want sixers,we want to see you get to the pitch of the ball and bang it on the turf. You grind the bowlers to dust, destroy their confidence and silently carry on with your work. Yes! Patience is a virtue. You made me realise it. You adjusted your game to suit ODI and T20 and collected over 10000 runs and what do people say? You cannot play aggressive cricket. You've done everything for the team ; Kept wickets to accommodate a batsman, open the batting, captain the team to overseas wins. I can't name everything as it is endless. A role model to millions of young aspiring cricketers like me. I don't want to play the pull like Virat Kohli or the dilscoop like Dilshan but I want to learn to defend the ball off both feet. The basic shot in cricket has been forgotten by many. You are a gentleman, a hard-worker.The real wall of Indian cricket. Sachin Tendulkar says, There can be no-one else like Rahul Dravid. God himself has decided it. Australia,South Africa,England,West Indies ..You've scored against everyone. Antigua,Rawalpindi,Adelaide,Lords,Chennai .. You name a place and you have a memorable innings to recollect. Such was the grit, confidence and determination not of a rock-star like Yuvraj or a dasher like Sehwag but of the resistant yet never repelling Dravid. Proud to be born in Bangalore.RCB sorely missed you. You do not need money.name, fame, you have priceless qualities in the name of pride, humble nature and simplicity to stand by you.
A man of few words, you were a nice guy who could play hard and yet,WIN. They criticized you for a strike-rate of 30 but they never realized that the other batsman had the license to kill only because they trusted you to stay put at one end. Samit and Anvay are the luckiest kids around. Sachin was worshiped, Laxman had the silken touch, Ganguly had Kolkata at this feet. Yet the entire cricketing fraternity respects the WALL of Indian cricket. Slow and steady wins the race. BCCI can search in vain ,a replacement for the number 3 spot.Try your luck, but you cannot get another Rahul Dravid. SALUTE TO A FIGHTER.
Sachin - God , Ganguly - The God of offside , Laxman - The God of 4th innings . But when the doors of the temple are closed ,even GOD IS BEHIND THE WALL.
CRICKET WILL MISS U, RAHUL SHARAD DRAVID!

One Man,One Woman,Two Different Worlds,One Common Mistake!

Just to get you in a Déjà vu situation. It starts with the boy loving the girl and trying his best to convince her father and brother about it. A few fight sequences follow and the young man with a few scars on his face(which can be healed in a few days)and the beautiful girl head off to the most bizarre locations in the world for their running around the tree routine(SONG SEQUENCE folks!).Imagine the Burj Khalifa for a romantic number. And yeah, the final fight happens in some old abandoned building which was specifically left under construction for this, where the girl's parents(strictly father) send a bunch of henchmen who cannot take more than a single blow despite the possession of weapons. His ultimate aim - Either to bash them up and go to the marriage hall to stop the proceedings or to bash them up in a more brutal way to reach the final destination.Aren't we sick and tired of this?
Do all marriages take place like this? Really? Whats with the term marriage? Sharing your property? Understanding each other? Dowry? Think . Think Again . A genius once said ,marriages are made in HEAVEN? If yes , then who's gonna die first? Are they made in shaadi.com,bharat-matrimony.com?tamil-matrimony.com? These website are probably the cheapest ways of selling yourself in the most complicated manner hoping someone falls for it. Its a relationship and not a property we're selling. Are these the only ways of finding the rich guy from Ameriga or Doobai? Are Facebook profile pictures enough to choose her? Minutes of staring , Hours of talking is called LOVE , Minutes of talking and Hours of staring is the methodology a guy and a girl follow when their parents are in a round table conference and with a few plates of sweets, mixture and a glass of juice existing on the table for formality! None of them are even going to touch the food!
How do they want their life-partners? Marriage is a one time investment with a permanent validity(divorce excluded!). Height is a parameter? Hair on your head? Money in your pocket? Home-maker? Girl working in I.T company? Good looking? "Curling" hair? Only wearing Saree? We've seen all such requirements. Are all of these satisfied? Finding faults in every other person will not result in marriage. Even if the parents of the boy and girl agree to the Terms and Conditions**(note the asterisks),the next step is go to the family astrologer. He sets up his apparatus, those weird check boxes which has ancient scripts written, does his permutations and combinations and declares that date as fixed. The guy and the girl get to talk a "few words" amidst this chaotic situation. Will the friendly nature come out? We ain't living in a generation where the girl is asked to sing and keep staring or smiling at the guy. Should I say bashful?. Its a generation where a walk in the beach would convince you.
Marriage halls are fixed, caterers are ready(a special mention to those souls who come just for food,Thank You very much),family,friends,ex-boy-friends and girl-friends, every single person is invited for the special day to see the couple staring helplessly at you from the dias. Probably wondering if the people who came were from her side or his side or neither. All formalities are completed and the couple live happily ever after.THE END. Wait a minute. Is everything alright? 6 months post the mistake(marriage),things begin to roughen up. Probably something worse than what an auto-driver would expect with Chennai roads. What if the couple don't like each other? What if the girl prefers his Audi or BMW over him? What if the boy realises that her seven digit salary has a decimal in the middle. I suppose even marriage is not a bed of roses. Divorce comes before marriage only in the dictionary as someone said. I repeat my question, Are all marriages made in Heaven? Think. Think Again ...

Dashuri. Las'Ka. Amour. Salang. Leif'de.

A cold Tuesday morning turned out to be one of the most important days in my life . There was a roar in the sky, as they opened up with the loudest thunderstorm-deafening to the human ear-but in all probability, the signal was supposed to crash into my left or right ventricle, the heart to be precise. Those three words from her-I,YOU,LOVE-came into my life for the very first time that day. Should the word "love" be placed between the two first-person pronouns? What did she really mean by that? Was it love? Was I flirtatious enough for her? A small, well, actually a large season of instability, maniac like behavior, (insane to be precise) followed. Was it just my heart or was my brain fooling around with me as well? Lapse  of concentration, skipping meals for phone calls, fighting over ice-creams and chocolates, warm hugs when nothing went right.. It was a bed of roses, FOR THE MOMENT. My engineering brain failed to realize that roses had thorns in them too. Fights, misunderstandings, arguments, it went on and on. 'I love you' became 'I kinda like you' and finally she said, Its over. Oh yeah, she IS a girl after all. It ended quicker than it started. Did she really love me or was I the only one in her life?

I remember one of my friends saying, I've played football long enough to realise that you can score goals even when the keeper is there. It didn't strike me at that time, probably because my team was losing. It makes a lot of sense now. So, what does that four letter word L-O-V-E mean? Running around trees? Stretching your arms wide open from the tip of a ship without having the guts to look down? Cupping your arms inside hers and staring at her eyes sitting in a restaurant? Building monuments? Poetry? CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUT? Is it that simple? Personal experience says a BIG NO! I've heard parents telling their kids,'beta, this is infatuation not love'.  For me, love is a deflated volcano, it can erupt anytime, but no one realizes that it has to subside as well. In common terminology, guys say , Pick up, drop, escape. To be creative we use, Pick,F*ck,Chuck!Simple. Amazing. Can love come in the middle of the night with you staring at the girl, taking out your guitar and playing your own composition for the first time in your life? Indian cinema can convince you in just about 2 and a half hours. Congratulations

The end result? You've converted a perfectly sane, charming, intelligent, good looking boy into an idiot who does nothing but talk to you all day long. I pity the cartilage tissues in your ear. I am not saying love is wrong, I am not against it either, but I am learning how a person who was next to lifeless become such an important part of another life. How you understand them so well, speak their minds, give them all the happiness in the world and yet, YET , 99.9% of these *love birds*do not MERGE? Why ? My prolonged search continues......
